Anatoly Zverev (1931-1986) threw a bridge from a creative quest of turn of the century to our time, reuniting the traditions of Russian avant-garde with the latest discoveries of the European art. He developed rapidly and indomitably, constantly testing new forms, fusing different styles, and in this bright composition the infinitely changeable and always recognizable style of Zverev was born. The high noon of his oeuvre took place in the 50-60s, when he worked impetuously, creating hundreds of drawings per night. Zverev was able to turn into a painting simply everything that came into his field of attention. At that, he was a sniper-drawing artist – from stack of semirandom observations he energetically squeezed the desired core and immediately transfered it to the paper. He lived and worked according to the laws of freedom, by electing personal independence as an essential condition for creativity.
